Summary
  • Launched in Jan 2026, Ormax StreamView is a weekly report on what is India watching on OTT, across formats, genres, languages, and platforms
  • This mid-year report is a compilation of the 50 most-watched properties on streaming in India in the first half of 2026, based on Ormax StreamView data compiled over the last six months
  • The report also lists the top properties for different content formats, separately for Hindi, non-Hindi Indian, and International

In the absence of any central measurement, it’s difficult to gauge which shows or films delivered to the audience on streaming, and which ones fell short. Some platforms put our numbers for their marquee properties, but the metrics vary by platform, and there's no standardisation of messaging. There are many numbers floating around (like views, audience size, watch time, viewing sessions, etc.), but little clarity.

To fill in this need gap, we began tracking the Hindi OTT originals category in depth through our syndicated tracker, Ormax Stream Track. By 2022, we were reporting viewership estimates for Hindi and international OTT originals, and in 2025, this coverage was expanded to include other Indian languages.we started estimating viewership of OTT originals in mid-2020.

As OTT consumption became wider and more complex, it became clear that tracking only “originals” was no longer enough. The ambition to answer a larger question, What is India watching on OTT?, led to the launch of Ormax StreamView (OSV) in January 2026.

OSV is an integrated measurement framework for long-form content across OTT originals, GEC programming, theatrical films, non-fiction, sports and news. It captures the increasingly diverse nature of streaming consumption in India, where audiences move fluidly across formats, genres, languages, and platforms. Subscribers to OSV receive a weekly Top 50 list, along with cumulative unduplicated viewership estimates for all properties that feature in the weekly rankings for at least one week.

Our mid-year report, titled The India OTT Watchlist: Jan-Jun 2026, lists the 50 most-watched properties on streaming in India in the first half of 2026, along with category-wise lists. You can download the report here.

The definition of viewership, and the underlying methodology to estimate viewership of OTT originals across platforms, has been detailed in the report.
