Summary

The report analyses 169 theatrical and streaming properties released in 2023, on various on-screen and off-screen aspects related to representation of women
Female representation is low across parameters, especially for theatrical content. Streaming performs better, but only in relative terms
The report also looks at the representation of women in the top 25 Indian media & entertainment companies, where too, the representation is very low at just 12%
Compared to the previous year, there has been only notional positive movement across parameters, indicating very slow pace of change

The fourth edition of the OWomaniya! report, which looks at gender representation in Indian entertainment, is now out. The report, created by Ormax Media & Film Companion Studios, and presented by Amazon Prime, is our effort to start a conversation towards bringing parity in female representation in the Indian film & OTT industries, both on and off-screen.
